Acacia Young Women Development Initiative
Who are we?
Acacia Young Women Development Initiative is an organization dedicated to advocating, mentoring and
empowering of girls and young women between the ages of 11 and 21 to live a successful, confident and
fulfilled life. We discover and groom their talents, grow their skills and guide them to fulfill their roles as
active citizens and realize their dreams of contributing creatively to nation building.
What do we do?
We reflect some urgent issues for women development and participation in nation building:
Girl child education
Leadership/Human rights
Entrepreneurship
Reproductive health (family life education) from a feminine perspective.

Why we do what we do?
Because:
Girls have rights...
Girls have questions about their physical, cognitive and psychological development and those questions
need to be answered.
We want to catch them young…
Early adolescence is a time when enduring patterns of principled values and healthy behavior can be
established and establishing healthy patterns from the start is easier than changing risky behavior
already entrenched.
Girls are creative and productive…
Young people posses a lot of energies and these energies if not properly managed can be misdirected
into negative activities
We want to help...
Girls require necessary knowledge and skills particularly in areas of sexual and reproductive health.
Rights and self development in order to become empowered women and social change activists.
Because:
Girls have rights...
